Hello and welcome!
A while back, a friend of mine who mostly plays TS3 was interested in what I was doing with my TS2 game, which I had picked up again after years of not playing, and the adventure I was undertaking in trying to make a Medieval game a reality. She asked if I would be willing to give her some pointers on how to start a game of her own and I agreed to, but kinda went overboard :P.
Since starting up my Tumblr (Simblr?), I've gotten quite a few requests for info on how to go about it from people and I thought that re-posting that guide here might actually be useful to others. It's very general and a bit old and not terribly in-depth and I do not claim to be an expert on ANYTHING Sims 2, but it's just what I learned and collected from my experiences and should be a decent starting point for anyone who is seriously thinking about starting a historical game.
And that's the thing...and I know I mention it at least once again in the upcoming swarm of words; making this game historically "accurate" is a labor of love. Depending on the level of detail you want to achieve, it will take a while to get it going. There aren't really any shortcuts. I think it took me 6 months from thinking about it to actually playing my first family. So be warned.
