This is the cemetery from Edge, an ex-mining town on the desert fringes of someplace much more thriving.
The graves on-site date from the days of the mining boom to the present. Some are well-tended, others are not. There has never been much of a rule as to where sims are buried, here, although the oldest graves tend to be close to the little weatherboard chapel, housing shelving for urns. A few favourite pets have found a place at the back, and there is a shrine in one corner to honour the Takemizu sims who thronged here during the boom.
There is a gravel parking area at the front, and a pond where sims can fish. A scattering of benches gives people somewhere to rest. An outhouse provides for calls of nature, and the gazebo is perfect for those contemplative moments...or for adding soap!
The fence at the back is shaped to go alongside Criquette's hood deco railway, because of where the lot sits in my hood.
In my game, the lot uses various CC items – headstones and mausoleums by Gromit and Bootsbrisket, a worn picket fence by Raynuss, gates by tbudgett, and Mog's deco parking space. None of these are included or required. The lot is playable as is, though it looks much better with proper headstones. ;) This pic from Edge gives you a glimpse of that:
The downloadable version of the lot is CC-free. There is a toilet, but no food options for your sims (my usual rule is for every lot to offer both, but it just didn't seem to fit here). It is intended that you would replace the headstone-marker statues with actual gravestones, as your sims pass away. Similarly, the chapel shelving is basically empty, waiting for your sims' urns to be added.
The gazebo and chapel exteriors are based on real cemetery buildings found in rural Victoria, Australia, from the gold rush era.
- Made with the Ultimate Collection
- 2x3 community lot
- A copy of the lot has been playtested.
- One pool square is hidden under the shelving, to enable Voeille's water mod.
CC you may want to add (optional):
- Bootsbrisket's headstones
- Gromit's graves updated by Shasta
- Raynuss' worn picket fence, from the Trellis Set. (Can't find a current link, sorry. I believe someone has uploaded Raynuss' old stuff somewhere, but I am not finding it just now.)
- TBudgett's wrought iron double gate (repo to the EA single gate)
- MogHughson's parking space
- Criquette's railways, although I actually use the grunge replacements by Psychosim.
