Background:

"It's an accident with a university boyfriend", Bianca swore, but the moment Demi was born - about a month later than she should've if Bianca's Lie was a truth - her look said otherwise.

It's a good thing she was too little to remember much of it, because her early childhood was chaotic. Her father, also her uncle, didn't recognize her despite her having inherited his darker hair, yellow eyes and xxl pointy ears. There were constant arguments between the adults of the household, with grandma holding little Demi and paying actual attention to her until they were done. Auntie Alice was obligated to take care of her as Demi's mom Bianca, barely 20 when she was born, went back to university, until she got scratched by her halfbrother/cousin, with the doctor saying "good thing they're siblings, otherwise a scratch from a werewolf would've been much more dangerous for a two years old" and...Oh well. That cat was out of the bag.

Needing to escape once again, Bianca left, and Dmei was once more left to be taken care of by grandma only, as her existence was a sensitive point for her aunt and "uncle".

When she was 4 there finally was some actual stability: her mom and her girlfriend married, and she went to live with them. A cosy home, and the following years were peaceful from her POV.

Until mommy became pregnant again, and then stepmommy Bree harvested a funky plant that was a baby, actually. Lots of confusing change and unexplained big events, but she will cope...

It was a lot for her, but all the magic, drama and science around her life also fascinated her, and she wanted to understand it all. Realizing she was a mistake pretty quick she felt the need to prove she wasn't a waste of space, and put all her time into working hard, skilling up and trying to do good.Though it sometimes gets out wrong as her chaotic family and upbringing didn't contribute to the in essence odd girl being very sociable and conversational, and maybe it could be argued it is due to her loveless parentage, but she isn't overly interested in romance either unless she one day meets the one. At the end of the day she prefers the company of cats, anyway.
