Two members of the family Pullet were very much neglected by me this cycle. Milo , well, I just couldn't figure out what there was for him to do aside from general care for the poultry, but that doesn't take long. So I feel bad that his life has been so unfulfilled till now.
But he's adorable and looks just like his mother, and one day he will have a story.
The other sad member was Hilde , Jean 's mother. I sent her to work on Day One and between that and being exhausted, she has also been neglected. It's a shame bcause she and Rulf Hackel had a little thing going that I would have liked to pursue, but lemme tell ya, the life a peasant is rough and they have no time for play. So, accept my apologies, Hilde. I'll try to treat you better in the future as well.
The gate market had been doing better than expected! So I purchased a rooster and reserved some eggs for hatching so that we could have more chickens.

And after a couple of days or so...

A proper bustling barnyard full of chickens!
Now, the Pullets were doing not as terribly as I thought they would be, and looked to be on track to make rent, but there wan't much left for anything else. So, imagine my shock when I sent Eloise to cook dinner and was told that the fridge was empty! I hadn't come across this problem in previous families because I had never had a family that polished off each Group Meal in one sitting before! We don't have a Market in Dallùbach yet because we'll need to beome a Hamlet first. I had to have them slaughter one of their precious chickens to serve dinner that night :*(
But, damn, the dinner looked good!
So, here we are. The Pullets are squeaking by, just barely. They are out of food and by the end of the rotation had to slaughter another chicken to be able to feed themselves. They don't have the money for a small garden, that is something I'd like to get them soon. But ON TOP OF ALL THIS.

I had turned away for just a couple of seconds to tend to another member of the family, and I remember seeing them in bed again and rolling my eyes. When I hovered over the queue, I saw that it was another Woohoo, BUT I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT RISKY WOOHOO BEING A THING. My heart literally stopped when I heard the lullaby. God save us all.
Also, in the midst of my nervous fretting about adding another member to this family:

Eloise is a woman now and is officially ready for marriage! This cemented my decision to have Jean set aside her dowry this Quarter, even though money is tight, so that when we cycle back around to them next season, she will be ready to move on. The Dowry for a first daughter of a peasant is $300, so Jean purchased a gold coin worth exactly that much and I dropped it into Eloise's inventory :)
Gretel has just sprouted her baby bump, and I must admit she's adorable with it, but we won't know what she's having till we return next Winter!

So, with that, we say goodbye to the Pullets who have managed to pay their taxes totalling $1,985. After taking out the dowry, they are left with $385 in cash reserves.
