Nader Founders, Second Spring

The Nader family (minus Saleh) have moved into a nice little brick house, with three bedrooms, a full kitchen and room for a car out the back. Nadeeda has decorated in pinks (to match the 'vintage' bathroom fittings) and apple greens (to match her favourite dress). They also planted an orange tree and a couple of tomatoes, because Spring!

Taslim is revelling in the new kitchen – no more BBQ in the front yard, and he can finally test some of those recipes he's been collecting. No one is eating hotdogs or burgers any time in the foresee-able future.

Arif was able to buy an abandoned machine shed, and move his shop to much bigger premises. They will have to work to get the business back on track, but the family already has the skills, so it's only a matter of time.

Abbas started school. He really likes games, but is happy with the easel he received for his birthday. He has his own room, with jungle sheets on the bed.

Mariam earned three scholarships, and left for uni. Her bed has been repainted and moved upstairs for Abbas.

The Nader parents, seeing old age coming on, decided to splurge on their first-ever vacation. They went to the mountain village of Boldrewood, looking for some new experiences. It snowed heavily the whole time, which certainly never happens in the desert around Edge! They visited venues and luxury hotels, enjoying dancing and massage. They stayed in the very minimalist Ace Motel, which was...adequate. Despite the weather, they tried log-rolling, axe-throwing and some tours. Oh, and they woohooed in the spa. On the deck. In the snow. It was fine, no one cared.

At the very end of Spring, straight after their trip, Arif became an elder. There was little fanfare, and he will keep working in the shop, of course. He may need some hired help, so he can take things a little easier now.
