Though they lived right next door, Victoria rarely visited her in-laws’ house. Being summoned by the patriarch himself was even rarer.

Binky had sent the request through Drake: he wanted to see Victoria alone. Drake assumed it was about Anton, but neither of them could be sure.

The moment Victoria stepped through the front door, her mother-in-law was already waiting. /core/uploads/2026/05/25/3bb665ee-017a-4651-9533-aa651a7cde39.jpeg “Why did Benjamin ask you here?” Beverly demanded, skipping any pretense of a polite greeting. /core/uploads/2026/05/25/d03de82d-3d24-4303-892c-bf50d8632c0b.jpeg “I don’t know, Ma Beverly,” Victoria replied, struggling to keep the irritation out of her voice. “Drake only said Binky wanted to speak with me in private.”

Beverly’s frown deepened. “If this is about Anton, then -” /core/uploads/2026/05/25/1a036d66-4351-4cc4-aca5-e3c7fc9f1f04.jpeg “Beverly,” Binky’s firm voice cut in from the doorway of his office. “Find something to do with your time, woman. I need to speak to Victoria.”

“Yes, dear,” Beverly muttered, clearly displeased, as Victoria walked past her toward the office. /core/uploads/2026/05/25/ff4adf78-dbd3-4d29-82bf-b4a21524a53c.jpeg Binky held the door open for her, then close d it quietly behind them. /core/uploads/2026/05/25/10f953a0-cc02-4811-bead-ef245ce828f3.jpeg Victoria moved to take a seat, expecting him to settle behind his desk as usual. Instead, to her surprise, he sat in the chair beside her.

“Victoria…” He let out a heavy sigh. “Forgive me for calling you here so suddenly.”

“Binky, if this is about Anton -”

“We both know this goes far beyond Anton.” /core/uploads/2026/05/25/97384ab3-8d0c-4e92-838d-78315ae6b0e8.jpeg They stared at each other in silence for a long moment. /core/uploads/2026/05/25/0a81b7df-a6bb-493b-b358-fe2b6b331a44.jpeg “Sometimes Drake looks at me,” Binky said quietly, “and I think, ‘He knows.’ It's like he's testing me, waiting to see if I’ll be the one to say it first. About what happened on the staircase all those years ago.’” /core/uploads/2026/05/25/1c569244-ee95-4eff-bef3-757e72dc5ee4.jpeg "Drake never talks about her," she said. "That door has been closed." /core/uploads/2026/05/25/5bed63d7-5dc4-42b4-9b6d-aa8cea94572b.jpeg "Yes," Binky said. "But maybe that door needs to be opened again. The family needs Natasha. Her help could change everything. For all of us.”

Victoria shook her head. "She wants nothing to do with any of us."

“Except maybe Drake. If he were to reach out to her, she might listen." /core/uploads/2026/05/25/1f42bd11-238c-4b0a-b3ff-25e00d5af3c5.jpeg Victoria watched as Binky stood and crossed the room. "You want me to encourage Drake to contact her? After all this time? Binky, I’m not sure that’s fair to him. It damn sure wouldn't be fair to her.” /core/uploads/2026/05/25/3a89375d-9825-4741-aad4-609fbf2798a3.jpeg “Should we keep doing what's fair or try and do what's right?”

Victoria scoffed. “Since when do you care about what's right? If you had done the right thing back then, none of this would've happened.” /core/uploads/2026/05/25/eb01a6fb-5f6f-4e88-854c-82a2094966e7.jpeg “Victoria…don't you want to know the truth once and for all?” /core/uploads/2026/05/25/8f9f362b-e85d-4ebd-9c20-9a2f0b906805.jpeg Victoria let out a long, weary sigh. “...Tell me what you need me to do.”
