Caitlin Westbrooke-Wright, one of Anton’s identical triplets along with Doreen and Abigail, was born with Aurora Cardiomyopathy, a rare heart condition that required transplants as an infant and in her twenties. /core/uploads/2026/04/10/4863520c-0879-44f2-b60b-971291b9adec.jpeg Her condition shaped Anton's overprotective and indulgent parenting style, leading him to treat every day as a gift. He lavished Caitlin with love and gifts, even buying her a house across the street when she wanted independence. /core/uploads/2026/04/10/20ccceb0-b349-40b0-92ab-ca15dfaf065a.jpg Caitlin had long been the Westbrooke family's moral touchstone, avoiding the syndicate's grubby business while keeping her family's conscience in check. Alexander's call was unexpected, and she knew whatever he wanted, it was eating away at him. /core/uploads/2026/04/10/053ff259-16cc-49b6-b94c-a64dc862f0c9.png After gathering all the details from her uncle, Caitlin went downstairs and slipped into the dining room where her husband Cole sat, patiently waiting for her .

“That was Uncle Alexander,” she said, dropping into the chair opposite him. /core/uploads/2026/04/10/90e0635d-a616-4a14-9025-572e41836655.png “By the look on your face, I'm going to guess that it wasn't just a social call,” he said. /core/uploads/2026/04/10/60de023e-3528-4638-a31a-9cc6ccbfa1b8.png “No, it wasn't. It's about the family business.” She said, broaching the topic carefully.

He exhaled through his nose, already bracing. “Do we need to pack the kids off to my parents again?”

“No, nothing like that this time,” she assured him. “But it seems that Grandpa Binky is having second thoughts about handing the business over to my dad.” /core/uploads/2026/04/10/3771f418-657f-40d9-8414-1973f8b123aa.png "The business that Anton practically already runs? The business that Binky - who's at least a thousand years old by now - promised Anton ages ago if he married your mom and signed away his soul?"

“Exactly that one,” Caitlin replied quietly.

Cole rubbed the back of his neck. “Anton isn’t going to swallow that. Not after everything he’s given up.” /core/uploads/2026/04/10/62b8c9ab-2eb9-4908-9f18-07f065349afc.png “That's what I'm afraid of. Grandfather was one of the original bosses, I know, but Dad has bled for this. If Binky tries to give it to someone else…”

Cole nodded and his expression became serious. “Let’s say, just for discussion, that Anton gets cut out. What happens then?”

"Then all bets are off," she sighed. "Whomever he decides to give it to will have a target on their back and all hell would break loose. I love my grandfather. I do. But if he breaks this, I don’t see how he survives it.” /core/uploads/2026/04/10/68aba01e-0c75-4d26-a5c7-114eda784970.png "Anton wouldn't," Cole exclaimed. "Would he?"

"You know how my sisters are, Cole. If Dad loses out then so do they. Doreen and Abigail would burn Paradise to the ground if they had to. And it's not just for the business' sake - my mom and dad's marriage could be at stake." /core/uploads/2026/04/10/79fae3d6-f83a-43af-8ba5-257b327a5c79.png She pressed her palms against her eyes, fighting the sting of tears. Cole reached over and closed his hand around hers, silent, because some truths left no room for words.
