On July 19 of 2003, 37-year-old Lee Everett was on his way to jail for murdering his wife's lover when the zombie apocalypse began to take hold. The cop was distracted trying to cheer Lee up with smalltalk when they get into a wreck. Lee manages to survive the crash with just an injured leg, and he escapes to a nearby home for help. There, he comes across an eight-year-old Clementine who's been surviving on her own in her treehouse since her babysitter zombified inside. Over time, the two characters become found family and Lee teaches Clementine how to survive while retaining her humanity while growing up in a zombie apocalypse.
