(Read previous entry here: InZOI Island Getaway (Cahaya): Create-a-ZOI)
While Create-a-ZOI got a lot of love in the last post, this time it's up to check out those new Build Mode items!
Build Mode:
This includes primarily fences, gates, windows, doors, roofs, and a whole new pool system! π
For this we got: 1 new door, 5 new windows, 2 gutters, 15 new roofs, 2 new elevators, 8 fences, 3 gates, 4 pool floaties and 4 pool lamps.
All the windows and doors are very appropriate for the climate of where Cahaya finds itself, but I think some of these are going to be super useful in Bliss Bay too!
The new gutters are also really cool! In The Sims 3 I'd use them all the time and I'll probably do the same here lol.
Also yay for new tiny windows! The downside, however, is that you can't stack them vertically. I was hoping that we'd be able to! I think that would add some really cool architectural elements.
A good thing to note is that as of right now the new roofs cannot be recoloured. I think for what it is that's actually okay! A lot of these roofs are all differently themed in their own appropriate way. But I can also see how it may bother some.
We also now have elevators! And they work!! :D While I don't quite get why you'd want to "elevate" to your own floor, I think it's still pretty cool that we can do this now!
It's not really that well-fleshed out as of right now. Your ZOI will walk over to it and then teleport to the floor you told it to go to. But it's a start!
I hope in the future they'll also let us rename the floors! It will make it much easier to know what department or area you're going to then. Just like in real life π
Fences and gates also got a bit of love! While most of it is pretty generic, I do love the tinier ones since they're more garden-y friendly. And I always add fences around my gardens in other Sims games, so this is a welcoming addition! (especially with the new plant plots! :D)
Then we got one I was super excited about... Pools!! While some made a bit of fun about the lack of pools, having some flashbacks from TS4's release without them, I think it's good to see that the InZOI devs recognised that it's an aspect we all love to play with :)
While pools, where I live, are often more of a symbol of being incredibly rich, I also know a lot of you living in warmer climates will love this addition, especially if you want to remake your house in InZOI π
While it doesn't come with rounded corners, I do appreciate the fact it comes with swimming lights and floaties! I think in all previous Sims games it took a few Expansion packs or game packs before we'd see those.
"Can I add windows to my pool?" was actually my first thought when I did this. I loved that in The Sims 3 and 4 you could (and in a way with The Sims 2), but currently that would be a no.
Though, judging from the greyed out things in the build item on the top left, I think basements are still in development. My guess is that once that's released, we'll finally be able to add windows to our swimming pool!
Buy Mode:
Now that we checked out Build Mode items, it's time to check what's changed for Buy Mode!
Before we begin, if you're at all into rattan-styled furniture, then I think this DLC alone is worth downloading as it comes out! There's a bunch of it and really well made too! π
A lot of it also seems to have a touch of "Spa" or "Resort" type of things here too. So if you're working on a hotel build (maybe even a richer motel?) then this DLC is probably a good choice too!
Seats:
For seating, we got: 6 couches, 7 seats, 3 bar stools, 2 benches, and 2 chairs.
I think, while a lot of them are pretty generic looking, it does have a lot of uses! Even in a not-so tropical house! π Sure, the couches are still massive, but I think at this point we'll just have to accept it, lol. (mod idea, maybe?) In fact, I think the seats are actually sized down much more than usual.
I can appreciate the seats and couch set combinations as the Sims games did make that pretty hard at times lol.
My favourite is the additional bean bag chair and the overhead loveseat! You'll see a lot of those scattered around the resort and I think it's pretty fitting!
Wardrobes and bedroom items:
For this we got 6 beds (3 single, 3 double beds), 2 wardrobes, 1 hanger, 1 decorative shelf, 1 dressing table (with 3 new stools) and 4 side tables.
The beds I actually had to wonder what really changed. A lot of it feels very same-y from the base-game beds. But that's not to say that there's no use for them! I think the fact that we have the metal-bar beds now (and all beds are a set!) is really cool!
Also, the cardboard box bed is such a cool addition! I've already seen a lot of creators who play rags to riches really using this thing lol.
Overall a lot of it is rattan-styled things, which I think many will appreciate π
Decorations, Plants and Rugs
For decorations, available through Buy Mode, we have: 7 decorative pieces, 3 mirrors, 4 rugs, 4 plants (2 hanging, 2 standing) and 2 wall hangings.
While it's a decent amount of decorative pieces, I would have loved to see a little more. Maybe some baskets that were filled?
However, keep in mind that this DLC does include a lot of purchasable gifts, collectables and winning items, which I'll get to in another part.
Generally speaking I was hoping for some candles and artsy pieces. But that might be because of the ZOI I'm currently playing with lol.
We also have a couple of new plants! I was actually running out of not-so-same-y plants in my plant mom ZOI's house, so this is perfect! Especially the hanging plants!
Lighting
Here we got 4 outside/standing lamps, 1 table lamp, 1 wall lamp, 2 portable lamps and 4 hanging lamps! π
The lighting is really fitting! I think it's nice to see that a lot of these also can be used in your generic house!
Also... Portable lights?! I completely missed the glowstick being, well, usable lol. I've never used it, but this pack comes with 2 additional lights that are pretty nifty!
Does it ever get too dark in the game? Nope, but! There is a setting in the graphics settings where you can tweak the darkness. I think this will then come in handy!
And for if they work... That they do! And you can even run around with them!
Surfaces and Shelves
For this we have 4 side tables, 4 shelves (1 actual functional one), 2 TV stands, 2 dinner tables, 2 bar counters, 2 bureaus and 1 bookcase!
Aside from the tiny mistake of including another chair and a bookcase there (this was before I decided to split them in different categories, rather than by room π ), it's nice to see that the side tables also work really well with the seating and beds!
We're also getting some completely different bar tables, that aren't really bar-bars, but simply higher tables, which is cool!
We're also getting a nice collection of shelves! They're mostly more spa/resort/bathroom related, but I'm fine with that actually.
The cutting board with the herb rack is also a really cool addition! I think I'll be using that a lot lol.
Kitchen stuff
We also have a couple of new kitchen thingies! 3 trash bins, 1 fridge, 4 hoods, 3 different types of counters, and 2 different types of kitchen shelves!
I will admit, I was half expecting a kitchen counter and shelves rattan-style version, but I suppose that attempt was there judging from the lattice effect in them.
A bit of a downside is that you can't put any decoration in the counters π¬ I'd have loved to add some of the decorative pans and pots in there..... (Another mod idea I suppose lol)
The hoods were a little confusing to me at first, as I thought they were simply just... well, blocks! To add more architectural elements to your homes.
Turns out they are actually hoods lol. So that's a thing to keep in mind π
Bathroom Stuff
I actually really love this! The shower is perfect for resorts/spas and I guess if outdoor showers are your thing, then they'd fit there too π The rest is definitely more on the resort-like side.
I also really love that tiny bench-like side table, where we can put tiny things. I saw in one of the resort rooms that they'd put that as some sort of divider between the bath and the bathroom, which is an idea I might steal lol.
Hobby and Fun
For this one we get a total of: 4 fish tanks, 1 DJ Booth, 1 Crafting Bench, 1 Bowling lane, and a bowling ball holder.
Okay, first we gotta talk about the fish tanks... I think both that and the crafting booth was an idea from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which I have no problem with lol. I actually quite like this!
Do I think that some of them would be cool to be more house-friendlier? Sure! But for a basic "here is something to put your massive shark in" (yes, you can do this lol, I have in-game evidence! >:D) I'm totally cool with.
The DJ booth of course is a new skill for music production, and the crafting table is part of the newest crafting skill!
I won't go much into it now, but at least you know they exist π
Outdoors and Shopping
I like to think this is where they put most of their time into, since there are SO many items in the outdoor part, that I had to split them in 2 sections so it's at least understandable lol.
Currently we got: 10 wall decorations, 3 parasols, 6 outdoor tables, 1 gazebo, 2 lounge chairs, 5 decorative items, 5 new trees, 2 bushes, 1 farming plot, 1 scarecrow, 1 outdoor light, 1 ice box, 9 vendor shops/carts.
A lot I say! :p
First things first, I really like the wall stickers/posters they did! I think they'll have a lot of use for it, and honestly, a lot of modding too! If there's one thing I always see being recoloured, it's those things lol.
The Gazebo at first I thought would be a cool thing to have seats and stuff on it, but it turns out it's basically a massive couch. ZOIs will sit at the edge of the gazebo and do what they'd usually do seated down.
The farming plot is of course the newest gardening item! I'll be getting more into that soon too, but for now, it's good to note that it's, well, another way to grow your crops! π
And last, the vendor markets! A lot of them actually are different food that they sell! Grilled corn, fish items, new drinks, etc. It's quite a cool addition, and so many!
Other
And here's practically part 2 of the outdoors section lol.
A lot of these items are decorative world-buildy type of items (and nicely modular too!) but some of them are also completely usable too (such as the toilet booth, the wedding bench and the wooden steering wheel to train your boating skills!)
Additionally to that we now also have a few more food items (such as a cake cooler, and some food stands) but also a fabric stand and a snorkelling stand!
While the fabric stand doesn't do much, the snorkelling stand is exactly what you want for the new "swimming" skill that we got! It has you rent the items for 24 hours, starting with "beginners".
Oh! And we now also have things that can be broken while hitting them with your car lol. So if you want to make a destruction course, you now can with those items! π
Conclusion
Overall, the InZOI: Island Getaway (Cahaya) DLC adds a huge amount of variety to both Build Mode and Buy Mode. While some of the content leans toward world-building and resort-style pieces, thereβs also plenty here that works beautifully in everyday builds - especially in places like Bliss Bay.
From pools and elevators to rattan furniture and resort decor, this expansion feels like a solid step forward for creative builders. Even if youβre only in it for the rattan furniture or tropical plants, Island Getaway is absolutely worth downloading when it releases.
