Geom Tri Count Tool

This tool was created to help me identify and remove hairs and other CAS part items that had really high poly counts, to help me keep my game running more smoothly.

It was actually created in 2023, but then life happened, and my son and I never got to releasing it publicly. (Just to be clear, my son coded this, and is the programmer.) Fortunately, Simlicious noted correctly that the code has a permissive license and uploaded it so others can make use of it.

This tool is considered a WIP, which is why we never officially released it previously.

Some important notes:

  1. The current file ONLY works in Windows. Tested in Windows 10 primarily. It may work on other versions of windows, but you will need a windows emulator for it to work on any other platform. (Have at least one report that it works fine in Linux with WINE.)

  2. It will ONLY work on package files. As with the other tool (findmergedcc), it's no use to you if you are working with sims3pack files.

  3. It will be useless on merged files. If you drag and drop a merged file, it will still give you results, but please note that it gives you results by filename and not by 'resource ID' or 'resource tag'. So on a merged file you'll just get all the polycounts within that file. There'll just be more of them.

  4. It will also ONLY work with CAS part items. It specifically searches for the 'Body Geometry File' aka GEOM tag inside the package files. Non-CAS items store their poly vertex information in a different tag. (This is part of why it's considered unfinished.)

  5. It's intended for drop and drag, and will work with large numbers of files. Just keep the .exe on your desktop, select all the .package files you want it to scan, and then drop them all onto the .exe file. Results will display in the command line window.

  6. This tool will also output a .csv file with some of the information directly to your desktop. (It always goes to the desktop, regardless of where you place the .exe file.) The .csv file will be overwritten if you use the tool again, so make sure to either re-name it or copy/paste the contents into another spreadsheet before checking more files if you want to keep the data.

  7. If you have any issues with using it on CAS part items, please follow this link: Kitlith's Github for TS3 Tools and create a new issue. (You'll need a github account to do so, but it's free!)

And as a reminder, Ktar is NOT the programmer. This is a tool made by my son, who doesn't play sims and isn't on tumblr or simblr.cc. So reporting things to the Github is his preferred method for anyone reporting things about this tool.
