After doing the Janna pigtails, I was browsing the hair database and thought… what if I repo’d some more hairs? Turns out theres quite a few meshes that take well being repo’d to default textures!
- Besen long braids, 770 polys, CF-EF
- NeptuneSuzy 43, 956 polys, YF-EF
- Sussi Old Fashioned, 818 polys, YF-EF
- KadBrazil Sue, 3735 polys, CF-EF
How does this work? Saved yer a bunch of file space by removing the texture files and repo'ing them to BG hairs. Even if you don’t have EPs, these should work. This means that they’ll take on the appearance of maxis hairs, or whatever texture defaults you’re using. That has the advantage of not needing to recolour them if you really wanted them in whatever system your tex defaults are in, it happens automatically! However; this also means if you want them to look like my pics, you need my BG texture defaults in afterglow. For context on how much of a space saver these are, I made a folder of 23 repo hairs which takes up all of 3MB, including meshes. the same amount of just texture files was 17MB, so if you’re using both the texure defaults and the repo meshes, that’s a 2-for-1 that’ll run you 46 hairs for just 20MB! You could also check out Aquilegia’s age and gender conversions for BG hairs, which work in much the same way. ins __
The deets: packaged by family, meshes all merged, unneccecary ages removed, fully compressorized. I have pinned them to BG so they appear near the hairs they are repo’d to. These meshes are old as balls! I haven’t edited them at all, so any problems aren’t down to me. I just made the repo’d packages.

I had a harder time finding black hairstyles under the poly limit for this lot, which I think is rightfully so considering the amount of detail that goes into them compared to your bog standard straight hairs made of flat planes. The TS3 BG dreads have such a cool look to them I think though, and they come in at under 2k ^^ (I grouped the maxis genders together on this one as they share one mesh). I think Free 38 is based on a character, but no idea who it is. Maybe a fun style for alt and fantasy sims, tho

Free 8 has to be my favourite accessory style on my list, its so fun and cute. F030 has a completley reworked alpha by myself, as I wasn’t a huge fan of the flat textured curls. The new straight and shorter alpha ended up really reminding me of Buffy, plus the clip is very pretty. Free 3 and 4 are janky as you’d expect hairs of those age to be, they very narrowly avoided the bin aha
