After doing the Janna pigtails, I was browsing the hair database and thought… what if I repo’d some more hairs? Turns out theres quite a few meshes that take well being repo’d to default textures!
- Besen long braids, 770 polys, CF-EF
- NeptuneSuzy 43, 956 polys, YF-EF
- Sussi Old Fashioned, 818 polys, YF-EF
- KadBrazil Sue, 3735 polys, CF-EF
How does this work? Saved yer a bunch of file space by removing the texture files and repo'ing them to BG hairs. Even if you don’t have EPs, these should work. This means that they’ll take on the appearance of maxis hairs, or whatever texture defaults you’re using. That has the advantage of not needing to recolour them if you really wanted them in whatever system your tex defaults are in, it happens automatically! However; this also means if you want them to look like my pics, you need my BG texture defaults in afterglow. For context on how much of a space saver these are, I made a folder of 23 repo hairs which takes up all of 3MB, including meshes. the same amount of just texture files was 17MB, so if you’re using both the texure defaults and the repo meshes, that’s a 2-for-1 that’ll run you 46 hairs for just 20MB! You could also check out Aquilegia’s age and gender conversions for BG hairs, which work in much the same way. ins
The deets: packaged by family, meshes all merged, unneccecary ages removed, fully compressorized. I have pinned them to BG so they appear near the hairs they are repo’d to. These meshes are old as balls! I haven’t edited them at all, so any problems aren’t down to me. I just made the repo’d packages.

Two different versions of F028, one using Raon’s alpha and one using Milya / Voleste’s alpha. I think the original is really cute, but it’s nice to get more use out of a mesh! However this mesh does have a small clipping issue on AF, I prefer the look of the other ages. I’ve been reading Neighborhood Story recently and Flora 5 really reminds me of some of Mikako’s hairstyles! It does feel like one of those meshes I love and barely anyone else uses, but all the more reason for me to do it.
